Stay For Ever Young Advice

Blood Sugar Levels

Blood sugar levels are the amount of glucose (sugar) in the blood. It is also known as plasma glucose level and is expressed as millimoles per litre (mmoI/I). Normally, blood glucose levels stay within narrow limits throughout the day: 4 to 8mmoI/I. But, they are higher after meals and usually lowest in the morning. In diabetes, the blood sugar level moves outside these limits until treated.

Blood sugar levels, if not well-taken care of, may also cause rapid aging. According to the Brown University scientists, insulin plays central role in aging. It regulates its own production and that it directly regulates tissue aging. The principle: Keep sugar levels low and cells are stronger, staving off infection and age-related diseases such as cancer, dementia and stroke. The link between sugar and aging started with studies in caloric restriction (CR). It entails the reduction of caloric intake while maintaining the optimal intake of essential nutrients, vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, proteins and essential facts.

To date, caloric restriction is one means of retarding aging. CR works as anti-aging therapy because it lowers body temperature, raises DHEA levels and lowers plasma insulin levels. Some minor changes in lifestyle and the use of natural supplements can offer the same benefits as taking medications. Patients in an anti-aging program may be advised to:

  • Cut back on refined carbohydrates
  • Do a fresh vegetable juice, once or twice a week
  • Use natural glucoregulatory herbs with meals
  • Use a full spectrum antioxidant formula
  • Use an L-carnosine based formula
  • Consider using an all-natural progesterone crème
